COMMITTEES

WHERE CAN I HELP?
Parents are asked to be involved in there child’s education anyway they can! Help be a room parent for parties, help with one of the listed committees for an hour or more, or attend monthly meetings. Being involved in your child’s education makes a huge influence on his or her education! If you would like to help with a committee please e-mail us at info@roosevelthsa.org and we will let the chairperson know! THANKS!

WHAT DO I GET FOR HELPING?
Your child gets to see your active in his or her school! They get to see that you care about them and their school and what is going on around them. Studies show that kids do better when their parents are active in the school!!

Back To School Root Beer Bash - Chairperson: Jon Armstrong
The Home and School Association hosts a Root Beer Float Bash on the playground the week prior to school starting. Everyone is invited to join us for free Root Beer Floats while the children visit with their friends. Class rosters are posted on the playground that night so everyone will know which classroom they are in. Volunteers help serve Root Beer Floats!

Fall Food Fundraiser - Chairperson: Missy Droegemeier
The annual Fall Food Fundraiser program brings in more money for Roosevelt School than any other fundraiser. Students are asked to sell food items to friends and relatives. Student are awarded prizes based on what they sell, but the primary focus is to raise funds for students at Roosevelt School. Volunteers are used to help count all the orders before sending them in and then others are needed on Delivery Day helping with unloading the truck and helping with loading cars in our drive thru delivery.

Picture Day - Chairperson: NEED ONE
We have parent volunteers help the photography company get the children from the classrooms to the library and then make sure their hair and shirts all look great! This takes about half a day.

Carnival/Soup Supper/Raffle - Chairpersons: Jaymie Ruder, Lynette Armstrong & Meagan Englert
Our annual Fun Night is usually held on the first Saturday of February. Parent volunteers cook a home made meal, along with setting up and running the carnival games. Families enjoy a meal then head off to the many different carnival games held within the building. The evening ends with a raffle, with lots of prizes purchased by HSA and also donated by area merchants.

Popcorn Friday - Chairperson: Laura Denny
Popcorn Friday is a popular event at Roosevelt School. One Friday a month, parent volunteers pop popcorn for every student.

Teacher Appreciation - Chairperson: Jill Seller
Roosevelt Home & School provides an evening meal for the teachers during Parent/Teacher Conferences. Home & School also helps purchase supplies for the teachers classrooms. HSA does many different things during Teacher Appreciation week in May in which parents help supervise rooms while teachers enjoy lunch.

Labels/Receipts - Chairperson: NEED ONE
Roosevelt School participates in the Campbell Soup Company Label program, Tyson Project A+, and the General Mills Box Tops for Education program and collect McDonald’s Receipts!. You may send qualifying labels to school at any time. We have received many extra items for the school through this program, such as playground equipment, classroom toys, and games and videos. In 2010 we raised $1000 with just Box Tops! Helping with this committee is perfect for those who can’t come to school - parent volunteers take the labels that have been turned in, cut them and package them to the program specifications and then the chairperson mails them off.

Breakfast of Champions - Chairperson: one parent from each grade 3rd - 5th
Breakfast is served to the 3rd - 5th graders to get them ready for the standardized testing they take part in. Parent volunteers cook and serve French toast, juice & milk to show the students how important a good breakfast is before State Assessment Tests.

Fun Day - Chairpersons: Jill Seller, Avry St. Peter , Kelly Schmidt
One day in May is dedicated to having fun! In past years students have been able to spend half the day outside participating in carnival type games, track and field events, and other games in the playground. The other half the day is spend inside doing fun things as well.

5th Grade Recognition - Chairperson: Need One
Parent volunteers help send our wonderful 5th grade students off to Middle School in style! We also like to have one or two 4th grade parents help that morning so the 5th grade parents can enjoy the morning with their graduates.

THANK YOU TO ALL THE PARENT VOLENTEERS!
WITHOUT YOUR HELP THESE SPECIAL ACTIVITES WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE!

If you see someone above THANK them for their help. If you would like to help out just e-mail us at info@roosevelthsa.org!
